Nianyi Huang, a contracted artist with the leading Chinese brand HAILUN Piano, is an active performer and recitalist. Since 2023, he has successfully held over ten solo recitals, masterclasses, and chamber music concerts in various cities across China and in New York, USA.
Nianyi has earned several notable awards throughout his career. He was the Grand Prize winner of the 2019 International Academy of Music annual competition in Italy and is a recipient of the prestigious Harold and Helene Schoenberg Pianist Scholarship (2019–2023). In 2022, he won First Prize in the G. Gershwin International Music Competition.
Nianyi began his piano studies at the age of four. He graduated from the Middle School Affiliated with the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 2016, where he studied under Prof. Yun Sun. He then earned both his Bachelor of Music (BM ’20) and Master of Music (MM ’22) degrees from Manhattan School of Music under the guidance of Prof. Phillip Kawin. Currently, he is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) degree at MSM, under the tutelage of renowned piano pedagogue Jeffrey Cohen.
In addition to his performance career, Nianyi is passionate about music education. He has served as a teaching assistant in MSM’s College Division keyboard department during his D.M.A. studies, and as an assistant teacher for piano lessons and chamber music in the Precollege Division. He is also Professor Cohen’s sole teaching assistant. Several of his students have been accepted at institutions such as Shanghai, Wuhan and Xi’an Conservatories.
